Slim is In: A New Way to Rent

Slim is in: A New Kind of Rental Tuxedo

The rental formal wear industry is constantly evolving.  While the staples of a good tuxedo are timeless and tend to stay unchanged for generations, the industry is constantly taking a look at what’s been done in the past and figuring out how it can be done better in the future.  In 2013, the industry took a big leap forward with the advent of the rental slim fit tuxedo.

Paul Morrell first adopted the slim fit tuxedo in 2013.  As a relatively untried trend, we started with just two classic black formal styles: The Black ‘Parker’ and the Black ‘Jackson’ Tuxedos by Ike Behar.

Because they were both very classic, they were very accessible options for a wide variety of customers.  They were perfect for prom goers with smaller frames and wedding parties that wanted a more tailored look than classic and modern fit rental garments.  And in no time at all, both styles became very popular.

To meet the growing demand, in 2014 Paul Morrell more than doubled the number of slim fit tuxedos offered.  We added both the Black ‘Braydon’ Tuxedo and the Black ‘Waverly’ Tuxedo to expand our offering of classic black options available in slim fit.  We also added the White ‘Waverly’ Tuxedo as a fashion forward answer to a classic white dinner jacket.

Again all the slim fit styles were big hits, especially during peak seasons.  By this time, the trend was clear.  Slim fit formal options were a big part of what had been missing in the industry.  While they don’t displace the need for classic and modern fit tuxedos, they help make sure we have a great fit for a wider variety of body types and fit preferences.

That’s why in 2015, Paul Morrell again doubled the number of slim fit options offered, this time with more variety than ever!  From manufacturer Ike Behar (where all of our slim fit options had come from before) we added the Navy ‘Sebastian’ Tuxedo and the Navy ‘Blake’ Tuxedo, as well as the Navy ‘Collin’ Suit.  We also added the Sharkskin Grey ‘Grayson’ Tuxedo to the mix, for our first slim fit grey formal option.

In addition to the navy and grey styles we added from Ike Behar, we also added the Black ‘Celebration’ Tuxedo by celebrity wedding planner David Tutera!

This slim fit style is actually a little bit slimmer than our other slim fit options, making it perfect for men with smaller frames, and with David Tutera’s signature of approval, is expected to be a big hit this wedding season!

People come in all shapes and sizes.  One commonality we share is that we all occasionally want to look our best.  At one point in the the history of renting a tuxedo, the only fit available was the classic fit.  It fit everyone, but it didn’t fit everyone well.  Then came the modern fit tuxedo that was slimmer than the classic and fit a wider range of people well.  And now with a growing offering of slim fit tuxedos, it’s never been easier to rent a tuxedo that fits the way you want it to, so that you’re sure to look your very best.
