Of interest this month is the presence of so many Top 10 yearly renters. If you read up on our recent report, you’ll see that 6 of January’s top 10 renters also made the Top 10 annual list for 2011, supporting their role as sure renters all year round.
In January more of the winter trend toward classic black tuxedo styles continued to stay strong. Classic black styles for January fill up 6 of 10 spots on the list including the top spot, making them the clear seasonal favorites and the surest to rental well this time of year.
Filling in the rest of the gaps are the grey tuxedo and suit all-stars that stay popular year round, regardless of the season. Grey tuxedos and suits are expected to rent very well throughout the rest of the year, but especially during peak seasons like the upcoming prom and wedding seasons.
Also notable this year is the absence of any brown tuxedos, which are generally represented on our monthly top 1o lists. This is undoubtedly an extension of the winter trend that generally drives rentals to more classic styling, and away from more contemporary fashion, like browns. However, we predict that brown tuxedos will make a big comeback this upcoming prom season, as students attending prom generally want to dress formally but still stand apart. Brown tuxedos and grey tuxedos both fill that need very very well.
