The most notable change in December’s Top 10 list is not what appears on the list, but what doesn’t. Up until this month, brown tuxedos have continually held there own on the Top 10 monthly charts. But as autumn colors give way to winter weather, the fall-friendly brown family seems to have waned as well. The downturn in brown tuxedo’s popularity during the winter months is expected and should be a short lived trend, as brown tuxedos are likely going to be hot items for this year’s fast approaching prom season.
This leaves the rest of December’s Top 10 real-estate split between grey tuxedos and suits with 4 styles (including the top position held by the Calvin Klein Grey ‘Legend’ Tuxedo) and classic Black tuxedos with 6 styles. While grey tuxedos and suits have done well all year, the upturn in classic black styles is no doubt attributable to the holiday party season, arguably the most classic and formal season of the year, which reaches its climax in December each year. This likely also explains the 4th position in the Top 10 list going to a classic black tailcoat; a style generally reserved for very formal White Tie occasions. Our prediction is that tailcoats will continue to do well in February, as they are also a very popular Mardi Gras item. This is one to keep an eye on.
